Localhost Aug Event: Update

Posted on: July 14th, 2012 by joel

Next up on the Port80 event diary is the first localhost event – these are the small scale, free, evening based affairs.

If you want to come along then best pull your finger out as 16 tickets have gone so far and the room at Newport Uni can only hold about 25 tops.

The Format

As this is the first event,  we are going to play the format a little by ear  but the general idea is that we’ll have two or three speakers giving an informal talk/discussion/demonstration on web related topics; this is not a fancy pants keynote affair.

Topic #1 – “Content First”

The first speaker will be Rob Mills of Bluegg. Rob touched on the topic of “Content Firstduring a podcast we did together. For those who don’t know, this is where you get all the content created before you start the design work on a web project – I love the concept of this as my company Jojet has struggled with getting decent content from clients (ring a bell?). If this is a method to put the horse before the cart then that sounds fine to me. Come along and find out more.

Topic #2 – Responsive Images(maybe)

No speaker confirmed but I fancy having someone talk about different ways of handling images in a responsive web design & the mobile context (something I’ve been looking into for various projects).

Topic #3 – ??

TBC – and there may not be a third as we’ve got 2 hours and that’ll probably fly by. Fancy talking?

This is the end

Fancy coming along to listen? It is free 🙂

Or if you fancy talking about a subject, please get in touch.

Joel
